Lesson 3 - Objectives

From the study design:

  • The genetic code as a universal triplet code that is degenerate and the steps in gene expression, including transcription, RNA processing in eukaryotic cells and translation by ribosomes

By the end of this lesson you should be able to...

  • State the purpose of translation
  • Outline the steps of translation
  • Identify and state the function of tRNA, rRNA and mRNA
  • Explain how the genetic code is said to be โ€˜degenerateโ€™
  • Use a codon table to write out the amino acid chain when given the mRNA sequence
